The Oxygen BIOX
System uses a pure oxygen and carbon dioxide gas mixture
rather than air as the aerating gas for the biological oxidation
of insoluble sulfides from metal ore processing. The Oxygen
BIOX System is a significant improvement over current sulfide
oxidation technologies because it removes the oxygen mass
transfer limitations associated with air based BIOX systems,
which are considered as state-of-the-art by the mining industry.
The Oxygen BIOX System exhibits many of the physical characteristics
of the UNOX System for wastewater treatment and specifically
features:
Designs for total or partial sulfide removal, depending
on discharge requirements
Minimal capital and operating cost requirements for
any plant capacity
Less aeration tank volume requirements than any other
biological sulfide oxidation system
Lower energy consumption than ANY other biological sulfide
oxidation system; in most cases consuming only 50% - 70%
of competing technology power
Designed specifically to utilize the advantages of state-of-the-art
aeration technology like the HI-FLO Surface Aeration System®
and the latest oxygen supply technologies
Reliable, automatic control systems that minimize operating
power
Dependable, optimal process performance without operator
