The UNOX System uses
pure oxygen gas rather than air as
the aerating gas for secondary treatment.
UNOX is the most widely used oxygen
activated sludge process in the world,
with an installed base exceeding 200
plants that treat a cumulative daily
wastewater flow exceeding 6.0 billion
gallons per day. Many of the largest
wastewater treatment facilities in
the world, like Boston's Deer Island
plant, the Detroit Wastewater Treatment
Plant, and Los Angeles' Hyperion plant,
use the UNOX System as their secondary
treatment process. The UNOX System,
with over thirty years of development
activity behind it, is still being
improved and features:
Designs for carbonaceous,
nitrification, and/or total biological
nutrient removal (BNR)
Less aeration
tank volume requirements than any
other secondary treatment system
Lower energy consumption
than other secondary treatment systems,
especially when using the HI-FLO
Surface Aeration System®
and the latest oxygen generation
technologies
Effective, cost
effective VOC and odor control by
minimizing process off gases
Reliable, automatic
control systems that conserve operating
power without operator attention
Dependable secondary
treatment for any plant capacity
More than
1,500 years of cumulative operating
experience at plant locations around
the globe
